BANYAN SYSTEMS SELECTS D'AREZZO AS NEW VICE PRESIDENT, MARKETING
Seasoned PC Marketing Executive Was Instrumental
Building and Shaping Compaq Computer During Peak Growth Period
Played Important Role in Development of PC Industry Since 1980
WESTBORO, Mass., June 25, 1990 -- Banyan Systems, the leader in
corporate-wide PC networking, today announced the appointment of
James D. D'Arezzo to the position of Vice President, Marketing. In
this role, D'Arezzo will lead Banyan's marketing effort with direct
responsibility for channel marketing, product marketing,
applications marketing, distribution strategy, strategic marketing,
telemarketing, market research, advertising, public relations,
marketing communications, and tradeshows.
Before joining Banyan, D'Arezzo had been a corporate officer with
Compaq Computer Corporation during that firm's period of explosive
growth from 1983 to 1990. Most recently, from 1988 to the present,
he was Vice President Marketing, Europe and International,
responsible for marketing activities of fourteen Compaq
subsidiaries outside the U.S. and Canada. These encompass 53
countries, more than 1500 Authorized Dealers, and account for 56%
of the company's total business. In 1989, divisional sales were
$1.3 billion. Earlier, he served as Vice President, Corporate
Marketing at Compaq's Houston, Texas, headquarters.

According to D'Arezzo, "I find the opportunity to become an
integral part of Banyan's management team very exciting, especially
given the company's leadership position in corporate-wide PC
networking. As corporations evolve their computing environments to
encompass networks for new business advantages, Banyan's unrivalled
experience in fulfilling these requirements makes the company the
key player in a booming market. My prior experience influencing the
development of the explosive PC market with two other leaders, IBM
and Compaq, meshes perfectly with Banyan's optimal position for the
future."
Said Banyan Vice President James Allchin about D'Arezzo's
appointment,"As David Mahoney, Banyan President and CEO, has
expressed in the past, 'We are continuing to add depth and market
experience to our management and staff at a level commensurate to
our extremely rapid growth over the past six years.' Jim's
appointment is further evidence of this strategy. Banyan has been
recognized as providing technically superior solutions. Jim's focus
will be upon establishing that same leadership position in the
areas of corporate and product marketing."

that introduced the original IBM personal computer. He holds an
M.B.A. in Marketing from Fordham University, and a B.A. in English
from Johns Hopkins University.
